850th Anniversary of the birthday of Chinggis Khan

On November 14, 2012 Mongolia will celebrate 850th anniversary of the birthday of Great Chinggis Khan. November 14-21 Mongolian amateur radio operators are will be active using special Event callsighs such as JU850AA... QSL via qrz.com.

Chinggis Khagan Award will be issued free to those who make three contacts with three different event callsigns, i.e, JU850AA, JU850DA, JU850DN. Any mode, any bands. Please send your request with QSO detail information to MRSF at MRSF dot MN.

Chinggis Khan (his childhood name was Temoojin) was born on April 16, 1162 (adjusted to our current calendars, the date is November) on the bank of Onon River, in the Burkhan Khaldun Mountain in the heart of Mongolia. He came to power by uniting many of the nomadic tribes of Northeast Asia. In 1207, he established the Mongol Empire and was proclaimed "Chinggis Khan" (King Chinggis). Chinggis Khan and his descendants went on to stretch the Mongol Empire across most of Euroasia by conquering or creating vassal states out of modern-day China, Korea, the Caucasus, Central Asian countries, and substantial portions of Eastern Europe, Russia and the Middle East. He died at his age of 65.
